More House Photos

Paul has sent another three photos of progress on the VT house which I've added to the end of the existing set. We're off tomorrow for the really exciting part - watching the crane move the four separate modules into place. In the photos, where it looks like one section has a roof on it, that piece is the basement family room and the living/dining area will be field built on top of it. The other two open pieces will each be covered by a module to complete the first floor, and the last two modules will go on top for the second floor. My description may not be totally clear, but it should serve to get you excited about seeing the pictures we'll post Thursday of the crane dragging and dropping those modules.

The First Module

Our VT trip was a great success. We spent the first day waiting for, and then watching all the modules get moved into place by a giant crane. This first photo set shows the crane and details of positioning the first module in place on top of the foundation. I'll follow up with more photos in a bit, but with 150 shots to choose from, it's taking me a while.

The Rest of the Modules

Watch the remaining modules get positioned and see the final results. It looks like a house.

Going for Granite

The day after we watched the modules being moved into place we drove up to Quebec to choose granite for the countertops. Just over the border from Vermont, Dominion Granite is literally only a few blocks into Canada, but a little extra exciting what with going through customs and all. From many slabs of granite we took home multiple samples, but ultimately all four of us came to agreement on Atlantic black. See for yourself.
