A Summer Saga

Practically everyone knows we've been driving an Audi TT all summer while our regular Audi is being repaired due to water damage. And practically everyone keeps saying, 'How could it possibly take so long to fix?', especially Peter. Here's how.

This is what the car looked like yesterday when I went in to return the TT rental and pick up a new A4 loaner. The pile of coils in the third photo is one of several wiring harnesses yet to be reattached. Not to worry though, they have assured me I'll have the All-Road back in time for ski season.

Back to Normal

After a personal, and perhaps Ira Audi, record for longest vehicle repair time, our familiar car is back at home, ready for ski season. No more leak, no more water on the floor. The replaced transmission control module and numerous wiring harnesses are all working as they're supposed to. I view those months with the rental TT as making my summer into more of a vacation without having to leave home, but like any vacation, not without having to spend money. Insurance did kick in but the length of pb (personal best) easily exceeded the insurance limit. With so many great sunny days, the weather somewhat made up for it, and once I figured out how to put the top down, I made sure to take full advantage of having a convertible. Plus I loved the size of the TT; it was just my size and so comfy to drive. Not so for Peter, who had to twist like a gymnast to get in and out, but he hardly drives anyway. In spite of how much I loved the TT though, I'm happy to be back in the All-Road again. It's our snow car and just in time, because look what the Mad Cam shows. (Or at least you can guess what it showed when I posted this.)

Company on a Walk

walking art more walking art

On the Northern Avenue bridge I came across the coolest pieces of art that looked sort of like the pedestrian crossing part of a traffic light. I noticed the first one from the dock behind Rowes Wharf as I was walking towards the bridge. Up on the bridge itself, the view from the other side was unfortunately blocked by a chain link fence. According to the sign posted nearby, the pieces by London artist Julian Opie, are called 'Suzanne walking' and 'Julian walking', though it's hard to say which is which. The installation will be in place for just a year and is sponsored by the ICA/Vita Brevis Project, a project named like many of mine should be.
